My
New Careers.....
The first
one lasted 40 years until I decided to sell Toye
Corporation, my company and life's work (so far).
The beginning
of the end came when I moved to Santa Barbara, 80 miles from the plant.
I made the drive for six years. In the meantime, I discovered sailing.
An exciting new challenge, and much more relaxing than the world of high
tech electronic security. It was a great business with
distributors
around the world so it sold quickly.
My new
career would be goofing off, sailing, and tinkering with my old cars, a
perfect routine so I thought.
But not
so fast. My wife Sigrid had a better idea, so she rented an office for
me in downtown Santa Barbara (known to my friends as World Headquarters)
hoping to inspire more challenging pursuits.
I did
find a challenging pursuit, and that was getting involved at the Santa
Barbara Yacht Club; creating software programs to score sailboat races
and becoming Webmaster. Since
no
good deed goes unpunished, they made me Commodore in 2007.
So now
I'll give Plan "A" another try; goofing off, sailing, and tinkering with
my old cars. If that doesn't fly, maybe I'll start a new
business.
